DURLEY PARISH COUNCIL MEETING REPORT
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic Durley Parish Council are not able to hold face to face Meetings, but have been meeting virtually. We have been carrying out business as usual where possible, but some issues have to be put on hold for the time being.
Durley Parish Council held their Monthly Parish Council Meetings on Tuesday 9th June, 2020. Cllr Delmege (Chairman) chaired the Meeting. Also in attendance were Cllr Childs, Cllr Watts, Cllr Rutherford, Cllr Miller, Cllr Brenchley, Cllr Rappini and the Clerk (Mrs Anne Collins). Our County and District Councillors were not involved in the Meetings, but have been sending regular Updates and e-mails throughout the emergency. A Joint District Councillors’ Report was also sent to the Meeting.
The new School Crossing is being installed and it is hoped that work will continue so that when the School is back to normal numbers it will be able to be used.
Fly-tipping in the village has continued during the lockdown period and a huge amount was dumped in the middle of Nethershill recently which made the road impassable for drivers. Tyres have also been reported which have been dumped around the village.
Durley Memorial Hall is closed for hirers, but it is hoped that some hirers will be able to start back again when restrictions are lifted. The Management Committee did offer the School the use of the Hall for the last 6 weeks of the School term, but it appears that the School is able to cope with the number of pupils they have in School for the moment. The installation of the dishwasher is being carried out whilst the Hall is free.
The largest item on the Agenda for this Meeting was the planning applications which needed discussion. Many residents have been contacting the Parish Council about work that has been going on in Durley without planning approval. Councillors listened to all comments and objections made by residents and have put forward their comments and objections to Winchester City Council. It is concerning that so much work has been carried out during the lockdown period without permission. Councillors agreed that this was not acceptable and taking advantage of the present emergency.
Cllr Watts gave a detailed Neighbourhood Watch Report, and this has now been put onto the Parish Council website for information.
A broken stile in Netherhill was reported, this will be viewed so that it can be repaired. The Clerk said that the stile might be in Curdridge parish rather than Durley, if this is the case, the problem will be reported to Curdridge Parish Council. A check will be made on the location of the stile.
Clerk gave a Financial Report for the June expenditure.
