DURLEY PARISH COUNCIL MEETING REPORT
Durley Parish Council held their Monthly Parish Council Meeting on Tuesday 10th March, 2020 in the Ken Stainer Suite at Durley Memorial Hall. Cllr Delmege (Chairman) chaired the Meeting. Also in attendance were Cllr Childs, Cllr Watts, Cllr Rutherford, Cllr Miller, Cllr Brenchley, Cllr Rappini, the Clerk (Mrs Anne Collins), and 1 parishioner.
Apologies were received from County/District Councillor Humby, District Councillor Miller and District Councillor Mclean.
Cllr Delemege showed Councillors statistics relating to the speed of vehicles in and out of The Sawmills which were triggered by the SID sign. Once more statistics have been taken residents in the development will be given a copy. Sites to locate the SID sign in Parsonage Lane and Durley Street are still being investigated.
A Public Broadband Meeting has been arranged for Friday 15th May, 2020 at 6.30 p.m. in Durley Memorial Hall. The Hampshire Broadband Team are coming along to answer questions from residents regarding their broadband. County Councillor Humby is also attending. It is hoped that many residents will attend as this might be our only opportunity to ask the Broadband Team direct about broadband in Durley.
Councillors discussed the ideas for play equipment which were suggested by youngsters and are in the processing of sourcing some of the funding. A Meeting will be arranged with a play specialist to view equipment.
The Debrillator which has been sited inside Durley Primary School will shortly be sited on the outside wall. The Clerk is hopeful that the School Crossing Project will soon be started outside Quob Stables. A definite date has not been given yet.
Cllr Delmege and the Clerk gave a Report on the WW2 commemorations which will be taking place in Durley on the 8th/9th and 10th May. Further details will be distributed to every household in Durley. Clerk has applied to WCC for a small Grant towards the costings for this Event.
A resident present complained to Councillors about the mud on the road in Manor Road. The Clerk has contacted HCC, but there is little they can do. The resident was asked to write to HCC with his complaint and ask for their help in resolving this problem along with a maintenance issue which was raised.
DC Mclean sent through updates on the Coronavirus. Councillors discussed the Durley Emergency Plan and agreed that various Councillors and the Clerk would contact the vulnerable residents who are in the Plan to make sure that they are coping. It was also agreed that a Notice will go onto the website and in the Parish Magazine asking for residents to check on their neighbours as this emergency could go on for a few months.
Cllr Watts gave a Recreation Ground Report and said that football matches have been cancelled due to the Recreation Ground being too wet. The landscape bin is also getting filled with rubbish from a car company which is not acceptable as this bin is put there for litter and dog waste not commercial waste.
Cllr Rutherford said that The Sawmills Green and Play Area is also wet due to the recent weather.
A Neighbourhood Watch Report was given by Cllr Watts. Car number plates are being stolen at the moment in this area. Burglaries are on the increase so residents are asked to keep sheds, garages locked.
Cllr Rappini gave a Highways Report and said that all the pot holes that have been reported have now been repaired. Another hole in Snakemoor Lane will be reported.
The Clerk gave a Financial Report for March.
Cllr Miller gave a Hall Report and summarised the recent Hall Management Meeting held on 6th March. The main issues discussed included the installation of the dishwasher which is being purchased, the upgrading of the electric circuit board, the re-designing of the Hall car park and various maintenance issues. The Management Committee also discussed again the suggestion of putting a piano on the stage, but as this was not acceptable to some residents, it was agreed that a full sized digital piano would be the best option for Hall use, as it would not damage the floor and it does not use up space in the Hall for hirers. The Committee agreed that it was not possible to please all Hall hirers, but consideration was given to all options and it was agreed that a digital piano should be purchased. The Memorial Hall is 100 years old this year and a celebration event will be held on Saturday 5th September and the Committee are asking for photographs of the Hall in use, and also any memories of events in the Hall over the last 100 years. The Committee are also looking for a back-up Cleaner to help the present Caretaker for around 4 – 6 hours per week. Cllr Miller is arranging to meet up with parents to discuss re-starting a Youth Club in Durley.
